Dear Dana Ratepayer,
Sorry for the delay of the bills. I thought these went out last month, but somehow, they were missed. Please accept my sincere apologies.
There are a couple of things to note regarding the Dana water. First off, we have raised our rates to $250.00 per quarter. This is to help offset the $34,000 we have spent bringing the plant up to code over the past couple of years. Our revenue for the water far exceeds the expenses at the moment, and the RM needs to recoup some costs. We also are aware that there is grant money available for POTABLE water only. This water, although good quality, is not guaranteed potable, therefore, we do not qualify for any of these grants. This is unfortunate.
As you know, we have an issue with the water level of the well. Rest assured that Council is looking at all options on what the best course of action will be. The minimum cost of drilling a new well is $10,000. Discussions will continue to take place and a plan set out as to the best course of action to take. We appreciate that over the summer you were able haul your water in for your gardens and lawn. This did help take the stress off the well.

Dana Access road: It has been brought to our attention that many people speed through the hamlet of Dana. The RM is applying for a grant to get two flashing speed signs installed on this stretch. Please note, this is the Ministry of Highways road, but we have since received a letter supporting this initiative. We have also started the process to slow the speed limit to 60 about a ¼ of a mile before it moves to 40 Km/hr. This will allow for better transition from 60 to 40 km/hr rather than the 80/40.
Please note: ABSOLUTELY NO BURNING OF GARBAGE IN THE HAMLET OF DANA. You may have a regular camp fire, but garbage burning in barrels, incinerators or in your fire pit is strictly prohibited.
